Queen Elizabeth Hospital - Woolwich

ITP rotation:3 months or split over 6 months if  

hospital rotation: 4 months ​

Shift Patterns and Activities 

Normal day: 8-5

Labour Ward on call 08.00-20.30: 

- cover the ward round with the registrar and consultant.  

- Do whatever jobs arise as a result. 

​

 Gynae on call 08.00-17.00

-covers the gynae ward round with the consultant 

-holds the gynae on call bleep till 5pm 

Twilight - 12.00-20.30

- Provides support for the gynae on call doctor. 

- Receives initial handover at 12 then helps with jobs from the ward round and also the on call. 

​

CS C-section (morning lists Tuesday to Friday, afternoon list Wednesday)

-You will be expected to scrub in to assist with c-sections. 

-There are useful YouTube videos on how to scrub into theatre 

​

EPU Early pregnancy unit 8-5

-May be called to do Consent for surgical management of miscarriage (SMM)

-Patients may come into be seen here with general queries 

FAU foetal assessment unit  8-5

​

For ITP role 50% clinics minimum - Ensure rota complies with this.

2WW: patients referred by the GP via the cancer pathway for gynae/obstetric related cancers

2WW+MAU 2 week wait + minimal access unit (outpatient hysteroscopy)

Colposcopy (usually in same room as MAU - opposite gynae reception desk)
